A LITTLE FAVOURITE
THE CROFT INN
Out of every project across this portfolio, this small menu for a Scottish pub, remains one of my personal favourites. It was a small Scottish pub with an in-house Thai restaurant, run by a local LGBTQ+ couple.
On paper, combining traditional Scottish pub heritage, ornate Thai aesthetics, and LGBTQ+ culture felt like an impossible balancing act, and I initially struggled to bring those styles together smoothly. Sitting down with my Creative Director completely shifted my perspective - sending me down a research path exploring where these distinct visual worlds naturally overlap. By breaking each culture down into its core design elements patterns, typography, and colour palettes, I realised that contrast doesn't have to mean conflict.
Bringing those ideas back together with iridescent Thai line-art and soft, Pride inspired gradient palettes taught me one of my biggest lessons as a designer: when you look closely enough, even the most disparate ideas can find a shared voice.
WE’RE SOMETIMES TRAINED INTUITIVELY OR THROUGH SCHOOL TO ISOLATE KNOWLEDGE INTO POCKETS. THERE IS A POCKET FOR VIDEO EDITING, GRAPHIC DESIGN, SCIENCE, HISTORY - AND WHAT EXISTS IN ONE POCKET HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WHAT'S IN THE OTHER. WHEN IN REALITY... IT’S A WEB.
EXPERIENCE
In my current role within a fast-paced environment, our small team specialises in rapid adaptability - learning and executing quickly to deliver high-quality client requests on tight deadlines. A large selection of our portfolio relies heavily on beverage and FMCG branding, delivering campaign execution and packaging visualisation for global spirits and beverage accounts. This includes conceiving and artworking structural POS units, floor-standing display units (FSDUs), and in-store activation assets tailored for On-Trade and Off-Trade environments.
These skills translate seamlessly into large-format and industrial graphics, where I produce high-precision vehicle liveries, corporate signage, trade show stands, and multi-page technical print catalogues from initial concept to print-ready prepress. Across the full portfolio, I execute multi-platform marketing strategies that integrate digital and print platforms - spanning press advertising, promotional kits, and event branding - while ensuring strict brand compliance across diverse client portfolios.
